Biography
Tim Lambert is a conductor, tenor, and pianist from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He recently received his Master’s degree in Choral Conducting from Northwestern University where he studied with GRAMMY-Award winning conductor, Donald Nally. Prior to Northwestern, he graduated summa cum laude from Bucknell University where he received a degree in Music Education with a focus in Vocal Performance. Currently, he is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Choral Conducting at Northwestern University where he studies with Andrew Megill. His prior conducting teachers include Beth Willer, William Payn, and Christopher Para, and he has studied voice with Susan Solomon Beckley, Emily Martin, and José Holland-Garcia. Tim is an active choral musician, performing both domestically and abroad with various ensembles as a singer, soloist, and conductor. Recent credits include the Grant Park Symphony Chorus, Music of the Baroque, and Stare at the Sun. He has collaborated with a variety of award-winning ensembles, such as Conspirare, Roomful of Teeth, Lorelei Ensemble, and Bang on a Can All-Stars. In addition to choral singing, Tim has performed in a variety of operatic and musical theater productions and has appeared as a soloist with orchestra. His roles include Monostatos in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Trio in Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti, Bobby in Sondheim’s Company and Billy in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel. He has originated roles, such as Thomas Jefferson in the chamber opera, Ghosts of Monticello, and premiered the lead role in the chamber opera, A’Musing at the Piccolo Spoleto Festival USA. Recent opera conducting credits include serving as the assistant conductor for Northwestern Opera Theater's productions of Viktor Ullmann's Der Kaiser von Atlantis and Christopher Cerrone's In a Grove. Tim was also the chorus master for their productions of Die Zauberflöte and La bohème.
Prior to his work at Northwestern, Tim served as the Director of Choirs for Central York High School in York, Pennsylvania where he conducted the Concert Choir, Mixed Choir, and Chamber Singers. Additionally, he was the musical director for Central York Performing Arts, directing vocal ensembles and conducting pit orchestras for several productions each year. Along with his work with high school students, he served as the Director of Music for St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in York—acting as the organist and conductor for the church’s choral and hand-bell ensembles. Currently, Tim is the conductor of The Northwestern Camerata at Northwestern University and the Director of Music/Conductor at Northfield Community Church. |
